The Dusty Busty

Our Beloved Mutant Vehicle! She is made from a very sturdy 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4WD

She has capacity for about 15-20 burners, a wonderful sound system and lots of pretty lights to make sure she sparkles both during the day and at night!

This is not her first iteration, before she was this glorious kaleidoscope she used to be rocket ship! A seasoned member of the Burning Man community. She has been with us on playa since 2022.

A lot of work was put into her by our amazing MV team! This page documents how we got to where we are today and where we hope to go with her in the future.

History & Concept

It all started many years before we got the car. We got gifted this huge disco ball. What were we going to do with it? Something amazing for sure but we had no idea what. So to storage to went and stayed there for a few years. We then acquired the rocket ship in 2018 and once again, it just sat there for a few years. Until our glorious FUNgeneer, Irish, took it upon himself to design and build this beauty you see before your eyes today.

The idea was to take the old rocket ship and send it to another dimension! We would make the disco ball the focal point of the art car and use idea of “playing with light” as the main concept. In order to achieve this we decided to use Dichroic film to decorate the new fractal frame. The beauty of dichroic film is that it refracts lights in all many different colors depending on what angle you look at it. During the day the Sun is more than enough to make this happen. Night time is a different story so we added LEDs throughout the entire vehicle to keep the lights dancing as much as we are.
